Selection Criteria


Economics:

1. Must have mathematics in 10+2 examination
2. Students having Science, Arts and Commerce background are eligible to apply for honours programme.
3. Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in 10+2 examination.

English:

1. Selection to the Honourse programme will be made on the basis of performance in the English Honours Selection test, to be conducted by the department.
2. Bonus marks will be added to the test score on the vbasis of:
a) Aggregate marks obtained in the 10+2 examination, and
b) marks obtained in English in 10+2 exam.
3. Minimum marks for eligibility will be:
a) 65% in the aggregate for the non reserved category and 60% for SC/ST/DA candidates.
b) 70% in English for non-reserved category and 60% for SC/ST/DA candidates.

Assamese:

1. 70% in Assamese and 40% in English in 10+2 examination.
2. 55% aggregate in the 10+2 examination
3. Additional weightage of 10 marks for students having Advance Assamese in the 10+2 examination.
4. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Marks secured in Assamese and English in 10+2 examination+ Marks secured in best of three elective subjects+ 10% marks from Advance Assamese.

Geography:

1. 60% in aggregate at 10+2 examination for non-reserved category
2. 75% in Geography at 10+2 examination for non-reserved category
3. 60% in English at 10+2 examination for non-reserved category
4. Merit List will be prepared on the basis of percentage of marks in 10+2 examination plus marks secured in Geography.

Political Science:

1. 50% in English and 60% in Political Science.
2. 60% aggregate in the 10+2 examination
3. Written selection test will be held and equal weightage on selection test and the score in 10+2 examination will be considered.

Philosophy:

1. 60% in aggregate in the 10+2 examination for non-reserved category
2. 50% in Logic and Philosophy in the 10+2 examination
3. 45% in English in 10+2 examination
4. Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in 10+2 examination plus marks secured in Philosophy.

Hindi:

1. 40% in aggregate in 10+2 examination
2. 40% in Hindi in 10+2 examination
3. Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in 10+2 examination.

History:

1. 50% in History in 10+2 examination
2. 40% in English in 10+2 examination
3. Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in 10+2 examination plus marks secured in History.

Sanskrit:

1. 45% in Sanskrit in the 10+2 examination
2. Pass marks in English
3. Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in 10+2 examination.

Botany:

1. At least 65% marks in Biology, 60% in Chemistry and 50% in English in the 10+2 exam.
2. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Marks secured in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in 10+2 examination plus marks obtained in Biology.

Chemistry:

1. .At least 60% marks in Chemistry and 40 marks in Mathematics in 10+2 examination.
2. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Marks secured in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in 10+2 examination plus marks obtained in Chemistry.

Physics:

1. At least 60% marks in Physics and 40% marks in Maths in 10+2 examination.
2. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Marks secured in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in 10+2 examination plus marks obtained in Physics.

Zoology:

1. Must have 60% marks in aggregate and at least 65% marks in Biology, 60% in Chemistry and 50% in English in 10+2 examination.
2. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Marks secured in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in 10+2 examination plus marks obtained in Biology.

Geology:

1. Candidates must have passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 examination with a total marks of 180 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with relaxation of 10 marks for students having Geology in 10+2 examination.
2. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Marks secured in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in 10+2 examination.

Mathematics:

1. At least 45% marks in Mathematics in 10+2 examination
2. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Marks secured in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in 10+2 examination plus marks obtained in Mathematics.

Statistics:

1. At least 40% marks in Maths in 10+2 examination. 5% relaxation in Mathematics will be applicable to those having statistics in 10+2 examination.
2. Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in 10+2 examination.

Electronic Science:

1. At least 35% marks in Physics and pass marks in Maths in 10+2 examination.
2. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of Marks secured in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in 10+2 examination.

Commerce:

1. Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in 10+2 examination.



N.B: It is to be noted that in the Selection process of the Degree Course (Science & Arts), a 5% relaxation will be there for reserve category in the qualifying criteria.
